Supplements, and what the research says

What the research actually says about a supplement.

SUPX brings together the published research on a supplement, the product facts manufacturers file with the government, and independent testing results, and shows you all three with the sources attached.

It does not tell you what to take.

Being built now. Not open yet.

What it is

Research, summarised and cited

What published studies report about a supplement, in plain language, with a link to every source so you can read it yourself.

What is actually in the bottle

Ingredients and amounts as filed in the National Institutes of Health Dietary Supplement Label Database.

Independent testing

Whether a product carries USP or NSF certification, which means an outside lab checked that the contents match the label.

Video worth the time

Videos on a supplement or topic from independent creators, screened for quality the same way TopReel screens them.

Interaction warnings

Known interactions between supplements and medications, shown where the data covers them.

Where to buy it

A link to a good source for the product, chosen on quality and price. See how we make money.

How it works

  1. Search a supplement by name, or describe a topic you have been reading about.
  2. SUPX gathers what is on file from public sources: the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database, the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements fact sheets, PubMed, and the USP and NSF certified product lists.
  3. An AI writes the summary. Every claim in it links to the source it came from, because a summary you cannot check is worth very little.
  4. You see what the evidence supports, where it is thin, and where studies disagree. Thin evidence is reported as thin evidence.
  5. If you want to buy, SUPX links you to a good source for that product.

Who it is for

  • People already taking a supplement who want to know what the evidence behind it looks like.
  • People comparing two products and trying to work out whether the more expensive one is different in any way that matters.
  • People who have read a claim somewhere and want to see the research it came from, if there is any.
  • People who want to check a supplement against a medication before asking their doctor about it.

What it is not

  • SUPX does not diagnose, treat, prevent or cure anything, and it does not tell you that any supplement will. Read the Medical Disclaimer.
  • SUPX does not recommend a supplement for a health condition. If you describe a condition, it shows you what research exists on supplements studied for it, and that is all it does.
  • SUPX is not a doctor and is not a substitute for one. Decisions about your health belong with a qualified professional who knows your situation.
  • SUPX is not a replacement for reading the research. It points you at it.
  • The Food and Drug Administration does not approve dietary supplements for safety or effectiveness before they are sold. Nothing in SUPX should be read as saying otherwise.

How we handle your health information

If you describe a health topic to SUPX, that text is used to answer you and is not stored. It is not kept against your account, because there is nothing to keep it against, and it is not used to build a profile of you.

We do not sell personal information, including search trends, in any form. The full detail is in the Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.

How we make money

Some links to products earn SUPX a commission. That is the whole business model, and it has one rule attached.

What we link to is decided on quality, evidence and price, and never on what it pays. When the best source for a product has no affiliate programme, we link to it anyway with an ordinary link. If we ever sell our own products, they are labelled as ours and ranked by the same standard as everything else, and if ours is not the better product, SUPX says so.

Stated in full in the Affiliate Disclosure.
